Spicing up the (Finnish) Sauna
My goal was to spice up the air of the (Finnish) sauna, to get away from its overexploited folklore tradition and look for new shapes, materials and colours. I designed a new seating system consisting of a platform and a set of different seat units to be combined freely according to preference and space available. As a new material to the sauna environment, I introduced polyurethane with a special filling to improve the feel of the material and make the castings light in weight. A set of floor and wall tiles for the cabin interior demonstrate the design potential of this material.
