Most furniture is static. The furniture by Izabela Boloz is anything but. Her side table, stool and hanger have been specifically crafted to bend under the weight of objects placed upon them so they respond to their environment in a natural way. “When you hang something on a tree branch, it moves. I wanted to incorporate that added life into my design,” explains Boloz. She pioneered a plywood and fibreglass composite to achieve the desired elasticity. And so, Living on the Elastic Limit brings together her fascination for physics, gravity and balance, in a fluid alternative to what is traditionally motionless.
